Delegation from UdelaR pays visit to BFU

On October 24, a delegation from UdelaR, led by Vice President Mariana Seoane, visited Beijing Forestry University (BFU). The delegation was accompanied by Sebastian Bandera, Consul of the Embassy of Uruguay in China, and other officials. BFU Vice President Wang Qiang presided over the seminar with the delegation. Representatives from BFU's Office of International Relations and Cooperation, the School of Forestry, and faculty members also attended the meeting.

Wang extended a warm welcome to the UdelaR delegation, noting significant potential in educational cooperation.He invited top Uruguayan academics and young talents to join BFU, particulary with the upcoming Xiong'an campus. He hoped that this visit would serve as an opportunity to further promote practical cooperation in fields of mutual academic strength, contributing to global ecological civilization efforts. 

Vice President Mariana Seoane thanked BFU for its hospitality and provided an overview of the UdelaR. With a 176-year history, UdelaR is Uruguay's largest top-tier higher education institution. She expressed eagerness to deepen collaboration with BFU in areas such as faculty and student exchanges and scientific research, aligning with the outcomes of the Uruguayan President's visit to China and fostering closer partnerships with Chinese universities. 

During the meeting, teacher representatives from BFU's College of Forestry shared updates on research progress in forestry remote sensing, while representatives from five Uruguayan colleges respectively introduced their institutions and proposed collaboration ideas. After heated discussions, both sides reached a preliminary consensus on advancing substantive agreements in the future. 

The delegation also visited BFU History Museum and Museum of Beijing Forestry University during their stay, gaining an in-depth understanding of the university's history and achievements. They expressed high appreciation for BFU's profound contributions to ecological civilization construction. 

This visit further enhanced mutual understanding between the two universities, laying a solid foundation for expanding and deepening future collaboration. Both sides expressed their commitment to advancing China-Uruguay higher education cooperation and contributing green wisdom to shared development.
