Lincoln University, New Zealand Delegation Visits BFU

On October 15, a delegation from Lincoln University, New Zealand, led by Vice-Chancellor Grant Edwards, visited Beijing Forestry University. BFU President Li Zhaohu met with the delegation and attended the seminar. The two sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on talent cultivation and scientific research collaboration, achieving positive outcomes.

During the meeting, Li extended a warm welcome to the delegation and commended Lincoln University's international reputation in the fields of nature reserves and national parks. He emphasized the strong complementarity between the two universities' leading disciplines and the broad prospects for collaboration, expressing his expectation to deepen practical cooperation in the future.

Vice-Chancellor Grant Edwards thanked BFU for its hospitality and introduced Lincoln University's strengths in agriculture, environment, and resource management, as well as its internationalization efforts and research advancements. He also shared insights into the work related to national parks and nature conservation in New Zealand. Professor Hongjie Di from Lincoln University provided an update on the ongoing establishment of the New Zealand-Sino Water Research Centre and pointed out the possibility of future research collaboration.

Representatives from BFU's Office of International Relations and Cooperation and the School of National Park outlined the university's profile and proposed plans for future cooperation. The two sides identified key areas of mutual interest, such as joint education programs and the establishment of joint laboratories, reaching a preliminary consensus. A series of agreements, including a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), are planned to formalize the partnership. Both sides agreed that this visit laid a solid foundation for further deepening their partnership and injected new momentum into advancing higher education exchanges and collaboration between China and New Zealand.

During their visit, the delegation toured the BFU History Museum and gained a detailed understanding of the university's development history, disciplines, and educational strengths.
