Forging Global Ties: BFU President advances educational cooperation in New Zealand

BFU President Li Zhaohu led a delegation to New Zealand, visiting Massey University and Lincoln University to advance Sino-foreign cooperative education programs.During the visit, the delegation signed multiple cooperation agreements and reviewed relevant disciplines, deepening collaboration with top New Zealand universities in fields such as product design and national parks.

At Massey University's Wellington campus, following a traditional Māori ceremony, Li signed a cooperation agreement with Vice-Chancellor Pierre Venter. The two universities will strengthen cooperation in creative arts to nurture industry-ready international talents, and the delegation visited the College of Creative Arts and Digital Arts Laboratory.

In Wellington, Li met with Chinese Ambassador to New Zealand Wang Xiaolong, updating him on BFU's New Zealand cooperation and its "One University, Two Campuses, One Park" initiative. Ambassador Wang acknowledged BFU's achievements and briefed on China-New Zealand higher education cooperation.

In Christchurch, the delegation held a symposium at Lincoln University on national park development and management, learning from New Zealand's research, teaching and governance practices while sharing China's national park vision. The two sides signed further agreements and visited the Sino–New Zealand Water Research Centre. Li also met with BFU alumni, encouraging them to serve as bridges for bilateral exchange.

Li later paid a courtesy call to Chinese Consul General in Christchurch He Ying, introducing BFU's strengths and cooperation plans, and thanking the Consulate General for its support. Consul General He voiced expectations for deeper and more practical cooperation.

This visit consolidated BFU's long-standing partnerships in New Zealand and delivered tangible results in cooperative education, providing new impetus for the university's "Double First-Class" development and global outreach.
