Beijing Forestry University (BFU) and the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Canada have reaffirmed and expanded their long-standing partnership by signing a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Letter of Intent to establish a cooperative education institution. The agreements were signed during a visit to BFU by a UBC delegation led by its President and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Benoit-Antoine Bacon.

BFU president Li Zhaohu noted that since the initiation of collaboration in 2013, the two universities have cultivated hundreds of internationalized professionals through two Sino-foreign cooperative education programs in fields such as biotechnology, and wood science and engineering, demonstrating a solid foundation and fruitful outcomes. He looked forward to propelling bilateral cooperation to deeper levels and broader fields after this visit.

Dr. Bacon acknowledged the strong foundation of the partnership and UBC's commitment to elevating the relationship. The signing ceremony was also attended by BFU Vice President Zhang Zhiqiang, who noted the high quality and recognition of their jointly trained students.

Witnessed by attendees from both sides, the presidents of the two universities signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation and related letters of intent, reaching a series of consensuses on deepening cooperation in several areas.

During the visit, the UBC delegation also held a special seminar on cooperative education with heads of BFU’s College of Forestry, College of Materials Science and Technology, and conducted an exchange sharing session with representatives of our faculty and students, further enhancing mutual understanding and laying a more solid foundation for future cooperation.
