BFU Scholar wins EU MSCA Fellowship

Dr. Wu Xudong from the School of Soil and Water Conservation at BFU has been awarded the competitive Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Fellowship, achieving an exceptional score of 98 out of 100 in the European Commission's rigorous evaluation process. This 30-month collaborative project, developed in partnership with the University of Oxford, aims to significantly advance climate system modeling through interdisciplinary research involving the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and other world-leading institutions.

MSCA, a flagship initiative under the EU's Horizon Europe programme, ranks among Europe's top three of research talent programs alongside Germany's Humboldt Fellowship and the UK's Newton Fellowship. Globally competitive and renowned for its rigorous selection criteria and emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration, the MSCA cultivates visionary scientific leaders with global perspectives.

Dr. Wu, who obtained his Ph.D. in Fluid Mechanics from Peking University in 2018 and join BFU in 2020, serves as a Humboldt scholar and recipient of Elsevier's Atlas Award, specializes in complex systems under climate change. His translation of Nobel laureate Ilya Prigogine's seminal work has enriched cross-cultural academic dialogue.

Supported by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), Wu Xudong will forge research partnerships with world-leading institutions including the University of Oxford and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), pioneering innovative studies in climate system modelling and ecological governance.

This collaboration will consolidate BFU's position as a strategic nexus within global sustainability research networks, advancing multilateral efforts to address shared civilizational challenges such as climate change mitigation.
