Recently, Beijing Forestry University successfully hosted the first Flyway Universities Alliance (FUA) International Summer School. Launched under the UN Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (2024–2033), the program brought together 20 students from South Korea, Mongolia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Cambodia for a 15-day immersive exploration of migratory bird conservation efforts along the East Asian-Australasian Flyway (EAAF).

Centered on the theme "Bonds Along the Flyway", the summer school addressed critical conservation challenges across the East Asian–Australasian Flyway (EAAF), emphasizing wildlife protection and habitat preservation. The program combined academic sessions, hands-on fieldwork, and cultural exchange, providing participants with a comprehensive and immersive learning experience.
Participants were divided into four international groups, each exploring a specific conservation topic, from wetland ecology and technological applications in species protection to cultural dimensions of conservation and systems thinking in biodiversity. The summer school concluded with group presentations and feedback from instructors.

The program, sponsored by the China Scholarship Council and organized by the University's International Relations Office and the International College, was implemented by the School of Ecology and Nature Conservation. It provided a platform for cross-border dialogue in ecology, strengthened BFU's international engagement, and shared perspectives on ecological civilization and traditional culture. The Flyway Universities Alliance plans to continue promoting collaboration among members through future academic activities, supporting both youth exchange and bird conservation efforts across the flyway.
