On December 13-14, two BFU teams each claimed third-place awards at the 10th National University Timber Structure Design Competition, held at Tongji University in Shanghai. The competition, themed "Greenhouse Exhibition Hall in the Botanical Garden", attracted interdisciplinary student teams from across the country. Comprising students with interdisciplinary backgrounds in Wood Science and Technology, Landscape Architecture, and Civil Engineering, the BFU winners exemplified robust cross-disciplinary collaboration. Their work was supervised by Associate Professor Zhai Yukun from School of Landscape Architecture and Lecturer Chen Fei from School of Materials Science and Technology.

Following three months of intensive preparation, the university's teams earned the jury's admiration with their rigorous theoretical analysis and high-fidelity models. The winning entries included "Luoqiong: The Boundless Rainforest", which stimulates the layered canopies and vein patterns of a rainforest, and "The Green Realm Source Spore", an organic structure characterized by clustered timber domes inspired by spores.

The awards highlight the university's expertise in green architecture and sustainable materials, and demonstrate the effectiveness of its interdisciplinary, project-based teaching approach.
