The 2026 China-Europe Talent Forum on ecological civilization was held on September 21 in Tiantan Park, Beijing. More than 40 academicians, experts, representatives of international organizations, and scholars from China, France, the Netherlands, Denmark and Germany attended the event. Zhang Zhiqiang, vice president of Beijing Forestry University (BFU), attended and delivered a speech.

In his speech, titled "Cultivating Green Talent Together, Building a Sustainable Future", Zhang highlighted the opportunities and pathways for China-EU cooperation and the green technology innovation talent cultivation. He said that joint development of green talent is an important part in deepening cooperation. Zhang noted that young BFU members have been selected for the EU's Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) and the Humboldt Fellowships. He also proposed three priorities for cooperation: sharing, co-existence and mutual benefit, with an emphasis on sharing educational resources, research methods and data, strengthening collaboration among talent development, research and ecological practice, and advancing green talent development and scientific innovation.
The event also saw the release of the "Tiantan Ecological Consensus: Vision for China-Europe Talent Cooperation in Landscaping and Ecology". The consensus focuses on talent development for the landscaping industry, cultural heritage protection and aims to support the China-Europe joint curriculum development and teacher exchange for nature education.
It is reported that the China-Europe Talent Forum, as a key platform for Beijing's talent cooperation with Europe, has been held biennially since 2019 and alternates between Beijing and Europe, with this year's main venue at the Temple of Heaven Park. Its ecological civilization session focused on talent needs in garden cities, natural ecology, and forest health, promoting joint training, technology co-development, and resource sharing in landscaping.

Going forward, BFU will build on the Tiantan Ecological Consensus to deepen cooperation with European universities and research institutions in talent development, collaborative research, and the joint development of platforms and research bases.
