Recently, the 2024 collaborative educational symposium on Wood Science and Engineering between BFU and the University of British Columbia (UBC) was successfully convened at BFU. The Office for International Relations, in conjunction with the College of Biological Sciences and Biotechnology, the College of Material Science and Technology, and the College of Forestry at BFU, engaged in comprehensive dialogues with UBC, focusing on further advancing the quality of development and the enhancement of professional talent training within the Sino-Canadian collaborative educational framework. Guangyu Wang, Deputy Dean of the School of Forestry of UBC, and the relevant person in charge of the Office for International Relations, the College of Biological Sciences and Biotechnology, the College of Material Science and Technology attended the seminar which was presided over by the head of the Office for International Relations.

At the meeting, the colleges presented their high-caliber collaborative initiatives with UBC and the resulting accomplishments. Professor Guangyu Wang provided a detailed account of the teaching arrangements for international faculty at UBC for the current semester, the Bachelor+Master Dual Degree programs, and the recent developments in Canada's visa policies. The attendees engaged in a discourse on collaborative education, the Chinese-foreign dual mentorship system, individualized learning, career planning, and curriculum resource sharing, among other topics. The head of the Office for International Relations delivered a synopsis on the further enhancement of management systems, curricular frameworks, pedagogical methods, the mutual benefits of shared educational resources, and scientific research collaborations.

A special exchange meeting for students of BFU-UBC cooperative education program was held after the meeting. Professor Guangyu Wang introduced the curriculum, research and prospects of the School of Forestry to the 70+ participating students, informing students on the pivotal role they could assume within diverse global sectors, employing illustrative instances from graduate employment trajectories. He also, with teachers of the Office for International Relations, gave detailed answers to students' concerns about credit transfer, major selection, integrated study and course selection.
This seminar is one of the measures of BFU in "Quality Improvement Year" to enhance international exchanges and learn about the excellent practices of Sino-foreign cooperative educational projects, so as to promote the quality of Sino-foreign cooperation programs to reach a new level.
