On June 26th, Professor Jonathan A. Newman, Vice President of Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada, visited Beijing Forestry University for discussions and cooperation. President An Lizhe was present at the meeting. Representatives from the Office for International relations and the Collge of Forestry also attended, with the head of the Office for International relations presiding over the meeting.

An Lizhe extended a warm welcome to Professor Jonathan A. Newman and his delegation, who made the visit to BFU for the second time, and expressed sincere gratitude for Professor Newman's efforts in promoting cooperation between the two sides. An highlighted BFU's strengths in various disciplines and research fields, and pointed out that the signing of Inter-University Memorandum of Understanding will enhance and expand future collaboration, hoping for strategic and in-depth cooperation between both sides in disciplinary matchmaking, talent exchanges and scientific research cooperation.

Professor Jonathan A. Newman thanked BFU for its support for Wilfrid Laurier University and conveyed greetings from the university president. He reflected on the history of exchange and collaboration between the two sides, noting that the profound impression left by BFU's campus and its academic community. Newman expressed hope that the seeds of collaboration sown during this visit will flourish in the future, and he looks forward to fostering closer ties between the two universities.

The teacher representative Professor Shi Juan, from the College of Forestry believed that the collaboration would bring forth abundant cooperation opportunities and a platform for mutual development, which would contribute to intensive partnerships across multidisciplinary fields. 

During the visit, BFU and WLU signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which is viewed as a positive step towards further implementing the national education policy of opening up. This collaboration aims to expand disciplinary exchanges, cultivate talent with an international perspective, and promote BFU's high-quality development in international cooperation and exchanges.
