Recently, the 2023 IFLA(International Student Design Competition) World Congress was held simultaneously in Kenya and Sweden. Li Xiong, vice chairman of the Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture and vice President of BFU, attended the conference. Representatives of IFLA Chinese Society of Landscape Architecture, Dean of the School of Landscape Architecture, faculty and student representatives of the School attended the meeting.

Lixiong participated in the IFLA General Assembly and the Council in Nairobi (Kenya), and had a cordial exchange with the President of IFLA and EXCO members.

Teachers Zhao Jing, Da Ting, Ye Yang from the School of Landscape Architecture, as well as graduate students Yang Lu and Jian Wenchen, delivered keynote speeches in Stockholm (Sweden); PhD students Zhao Qiyao, Liu Yutong and Zhang Chi delivered keynote speeches in Nairobi (Kenya); 6 students made poster presentations; 15 students gave oral reports online.
IFLA Student Design Competition, with the theme of "Act Locally, Think Globally", aims to collecting proposals for addressing global challenges through indigenous solutions to different local problems, advocating the cross-exchange of traditional landscape approaches with tools, knowledge and concepts from different professional fields. The competition is divided into three categories: Landscape Planning, Landscape Design and Applied Research. A total of 10 works won the prizes of IFLA Student Design Competition.


The competition work "Blue-Green Space Copes With Visible And Invisible Water Disasters" directed by Ge Xiaoyu and Yao Peng won the first prize of Applied research category; "All-Class Green Sharing Guide" directed by Li Xiong and Li Fangzheng, won the third prize of the same category.
Focusing on emerging global issues to find new ways to address global climate change, social inequality and biodiversity, the conference, themed on "Emergent Interaction", invited well-known scholars, designers, students, government agencies, non-governmental organizations from the global landscape architecture industry to deliver keynote speeches. The conference includes the opening ceremony, award ceremony, thematic discussion, keynote report, forum, closing and field trip.
