Commemoration for compatriots and the heroes--Flags flown at half-mast on campus

At 10:00a.m. on April 4, Beijing Forestry University held a mourning in the stadium for martyrs who died in the fight against the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak and compatriots died of the disease.

 

At 9:55, the national flag escort instructor Maimatiyiaz Mamuti and the representative university counselor Zhao Yuhui raised the Five-Starred Red Flag as the national anthem was played. All the attendees, on behalf of all faculty, staff, and students, gave a solemn eye salute to the national flag. The national flag was raised to the top of the pole, then slowly lowered. At 10 o'clock, the attendees stood in silence for 3 minutes to mourn for the diseased, while air raid sirens and horns of automobiles wailed in grief. 

 

With the joint efforts of the whole country and the general public, the situation of prevention and control of the epidemic in China has continued to improve. The keep improving situation is brought by the whole country’s joint efforts, the most comprehensive, thorough and strict prevention and control measures, and the front line heroes who battled COVID-19 with their blood, sweat, and even lives. This commemoration is a remembrance of the deceased, a consolation for the living and a remembrance of the disaster, which also shows the respect and reverence for life and the yearning and expectation for a better life.

 

After the memorial activities, the attendees have said that “all the dedication and sacrifices should be respected and remembered. We should remain alert, overcome difficulties together, and take the initiative to fight and to win the comprehensive victory against the novel coronavirus epidemic, consoling the martyrs and fallen compatriots”.
