Beijing Forestry University (BFU) welcomed Tere McGonagle-Daly, Vice-Chancellor of New Zealand's Massey University, and his delegation on May 20. The visit focused on expanding bilateral cooperation in grassland science, art design, and humanities, following the institutional agreement signed in March 2024.

Vice President Li Xiong reaffirmed BFU's commitment to global academic partnerships and proposed expanding collaboration in grassland studies, the humanities, and design disciplines, inviting future visits to BFU Xiong'an campus to advance joint initiatives. Professor McGonagle-Daly emphasized Massey's strengths in ecological agriculture, urging concrete actions to implement the existing framework.

The delegation engaged in focused discussions with three BFU colleges to advance discipline-specific collaboration. Key initiatives include: the College of Art & Design is finalizing dual-degree program agreements, while the College of Grassland Science is developing scholar exchange programs and joint field research, and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences is planning joint training, faculty and students exchanges and research collaborations.

As one of New Zealand's largest universities, Massey ranks among the top 300 globally (QS 2023) with recognized expertise in agricultural innovation. The visit identified synergies to address ecological challenges through academic cooperation.
