The EU VALOR project, supported by the EU’s Horizon 2020 initiative and led by the University of Reading, UK, was approved by the European Commission in June this year with contributions from Professor Zhang Ying’s team from the School of Economics and Management at BFU. The project focuses on biodiversity and ecosystem services across strategically important regions of Europe and aims to develop an integrated, system-based method to enhance understanding of the impacts of pollinators. It also examines how changes in pollinator populations affect ecosystems, agricultural businesses, local communities, and their broader influence on product value chains, international trade, and nutrition supply.

The signing of this cooperation agreement signifies BFU’s commitment to promoting research collaboration as a boost for international partnerships and exchanges. It highlights the scientific spirit and research prowess of Chinese scholars and plays a crucial role in strengthening the university’s global influence in biodiversity and ecosystem services.
