Recently, BFU hosted the opening ceremony of its second "Growth Partners" International Bioscience Summer School, centered on the theme "Rooted in Cultural Heritage, Resonant with Life." Vice President Cheng Wu attended the event and delivered an address. Also in attendance were representatives from the Academic Affairs Office and the College of Biological Sciences and Technology, as well as all faculty members and students taking part in the program.
Cheng Wu emphasized that the international summer school is not only a practical implementation of the Ministry of Education's "Top-notch Student Cultivation Program 2.0", but also a a major move to deepen international exchange and cooperation. By leveraging the university's strengths in forestry and ecology, the program aims to cultivate top-notch innovative talents with global vision. Focusing on the core goal of "cross-regional intellectual excange," he summer school offers an open and interactive platform through diverse activities, encouraging students to immerse themselves in cutting-edge green technologies.

This summer school, led by Harald Schneider, a researcher from the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Kang Xiangyang from Beijing Forestry University, offered students a series of lectures on cutting-edge scientific topics. The program guided participants through the "jungle" of science and technology, helping them explore various pathways of academic and professional growth. Participants also visited the National Key Laboratory for Efficient Production of Forest Resources and the Plant Science Center, gaining firsthand insight into advanced scientific research and innovative exploration.
This year, the program expanded to include field practices at the university's teaching base in Handan--a first in its history. There, students engaged in in-depth activities integrating culture, industry, and natural sciences. They visited cultural sites to deepen their historical understanding and national pride, and leading enterprises to gain deeper insights into technological innovation and industrial transformation. Outdoor sessions, led by Dr. Tuuli-Mariaana Koski and Dr. Maria Daniela Artigas Ramirez, enabled students to explore natural mysteries and stimulated their scientific thinking.

This summer school aims to build a platform for intellectual exchange among top talents in forest biology. Participants included students from China Agricultural University, Nanjing Agricultural University, and other top-notch 2.0 program bases.
As the only bioscience Top-notch 2.0 base among national forestry universities, BFU has taken a leading role by collaborating with brother universities such as Nanjing Forestry University, Southwest Forestry University, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, and Central South University of Forestry and Technology, enhancing the summer school's reach and impact while providing a broader platform for cross-institutional and interdisciplinary exchanges among top students.
