On the conference, Professor Alain ROQUES, the French director of the laboratory, introduced the joint laboratory project and its two important research issues. Alain ROQUES also gave a summary of the achievements of the first phase of the laboratory (2018-2023) and a vision of the second phase of the laboratory (2024-2027). The Chinese Executive director of the laboratory detailed the history, departments, academic disciplines, research platforms and international cooperation of the College of Forestry, BFU.

The teams from both sides agreed that they would renew the Sino-French Eurasian Joint Laboratory Agreement on Invasive Forest Pests, and jointly hold an international conference in BFU in 2024. In the second phase of the laboratory, the two sides are willing to continue to strengthen the multi-party collaboration mechanism between Chinese and French scientific research teams to build a China-France international scientific and technological cooperation network, and further promote cooperation and exchanges in talent training, scholar exchanges, research cooperation and other aspects, jointly making contributions to the ecological and environmental security of China and France and even the Eurasian continent. The two sides also exchanged views on the topic of "how laboratory research teams can participate in the Sino-French Carbon Neutrality Center (CNC)".

It is reported that Sino-France Joint Laboratory For Invasive Forest Pests in Eurasia was jointly established by Beijing Forestry University and the Forest Animal Research Institute of the National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment, France. In 2018, BFU visited the Paris headquarters of INRA and signed a five-year cooperation agreement to build an international joint laboratory. In November of the same year, the opening ceremony of the "Sino-France Joint Laboratory For Invasive Forest Pests in Eurasia" was held in BFU. The laboratory is dedicated to the research of cross-border traceability and green prevention and control of exotic pests in forestry. Through scientific research cooperation and academic exchanges, it has built a joint research platform for international forest invasive organisms research, providing support for the construction of double first-class disciplines of forestry in BFU.
