Cheng Wu pointed out that BFU has always taken the construction of ecological civilization as the foundation of the development. Aiming at protecting the life community of mountains, rivers, forests, fields, lakes, grasses and sand, BFU comprehensively promotes international scientific and technological cooperation on global environmental governance. In the field of global biodiversity conservation, especially the research and protection of large-scale migratory species, BFU established the Center of East Asia-Australasian Flyway (CEAAF) in 2018 to mainly undertake the tasks of EAAFP and to provide scientific and technological services for the Partnership Agreement.

At the meeting, BFU and EAAFP jointly launched an initiative to invite universities and research institutions from various countries to engage in migratory waterbirds and wetlands researches for the establishment an East Asia-Australasia Flyway Education Cooperation Alliance, strengthening the knowledge of migratory flyway ecology, environmental science, and biodiversity conservation, and cultivating future leaders. In the future, the Alliance will focus on joint talent training, key issues in the flyway zone, innovative scientific programs, collaborative research, and monitoring of migration routes.

Professor Lei Guangchun from the School of Ecology and Nature Conservation of BFU introduced the collaborative conservation of wetlands and migratory waterbirds. Sun Lili, a PhD student of BFU, co-founder of the Mangrove Conservation Foundation (MCF) and president of the International Spoon-billed Sandpiper Action Group, shared the case of the Spoon-billed Sandpiper protection and mangrove forest conservation, and discussed with other guests about the multi-collaborative conservation of migratory species.
