On November 1, 2025, Beijing Forestry University (BFU) hosted the Beijing regional round of the 2025 FLTRP·ETIC Cup "Understanding Contemporary China" National English Speaking Competition for College Students. The dean of the School of Foreign Languages presided over the opening ceremony. The contest followed the set theme "Strike the Waves". In their speeches, contestants interpreted youth responsibilities from an international perspective and narrated China's practices in English. Their performances highlighted the spirit of Chinese youth in the new era. After a highly competitive round, fifteen contestants won Gold Awards, thirty-three received Silver Awards, and seventy-six earned Bronze Awards. Gold Award winners will advance to the national finals.

In his remarks, Vice President Zhang Zhiqiang highlighted the contest as an important platform for evaluating teaching outcomes and advancing educational reform, noting that the university would further enhance its foreign-language education systems accordingly. Li Jingtao from the Beijing Municipal Education Commission emphasized aligning the event with national goals of strengthening education and fully utilizing it to promote China's stories. Li Shujing, representing the academic association, pointed out that the competition not only showcases students' language proficiency but also helps improve teaching quality and cultivate top innovative talent. On behalf of the organizer, Zhao Jing reaffirmed their commitment to supporting high-quality foreign-language education through teaching materials, contests, and teacher training.

The 2025 FLTRP· ETIC Cup series has grown into one of the largest and most influential foreign-language contests in China. As the Beijing regional host, BFU's School of Foreign Languages implemented rigorous procedures and impartial judging to ensure a fair, smoothly run competition.
