Youthful BFU performances draw thousands to graduation art series

Beijing Forestry University recently presented its "Chasing Light" graduation season arts series, featuring performances by the student choir, drama troupe, traditional Chinese orchestra, and symphony orchestra. Over 100 graduating students took the stage, with more than 3,000 faculty and students attending across the events. Starting in late May, the campus was filled with weekly performances and music, creating a festive and memorable atmosphere for the graduation season.

On May 17, the student choir held its graduation concert "Letters", delivering warm and heartfelt renditions of songs such as "Wishes" and "Jasmine". More than 60 graduating students, alumni, and current members performed together, using music to share stories of growth and extend blessings to the graduating class.

From May 23 to 24, the student drama troupe presented its original graduation production "404 Attempts", a collection of seven student-written one-act plays set in the AI era. Performed by graduating student actors, the plays delivered thought-provoking reflections on modern society, highlighting the intellectual curiosity and critical thinking of today's youth.

On May 24, the traditional Chinese orchestra presented its graduation concert "One String, One Wood," highlighting the expressive depth of traditional instruments. Pieces such as "Harmony of the Seven Colors", "Ode to Coral", and "To the Youth" evoked both nostalgic memories of campus life and hopeful visions for the future, breathing new vitality into traditional culture.

On June 7, the symphony orchestra closed the series with its "Wind and Forest Sounds" concert. Performing classics including Symphony for Youth and Symphony No. 4 in F Minor, the orchestra delivered a powerful and emotionally rich performance, reflecting the energy, dedication, and artistic aspirations of BFU students.

This graduation arts series is a key component of the university's "Two Seasons, Two Performances" campus culture initiative, part of BFU's broader "841" cultural framework. Looking ahead, the university will continue to expand its arts programs, support its student ensembles, and enrich campus cultural life—using the arts to inspire character development and foster well‑rounded growth among students.
