Updated:2015-05-11 Browse: Close window Print this page

On October 23, 14 international students visited the Summer Palace witnessing the antique beauty of the largest royal park in China.

Situated in the Haidian District northwest of Beijing City, the Summer Palace is 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) from central Beijing. Being the largest and most well-preserved royal park in China, it greatly influences Chinese horticulture and landscape with its famous natural views and cultural interests, which also has long since been recognized as “The Museum of Royal Gardens”. The construction of this palace started in 1750 as a luxurious royal garden for the use of rest and entertainment. It later became the main residence of royal family members in the end of Qing Dynasty. It could fully radiate the natural beauty and the grandeur of royal gardens.

They entered it through Beigong Gate trying to find a different way of exploration. The hills, the Kunming Lake and the well-designed Chinese gardens and buildings, all were fascinating and impressive. Especially, when they climbed on the hill, the big lake area in front of them provided such a broad vision to them. They lingered along the lake till the twilight, so obsessive that they expressed their willingness to revisit here.

Chinese culture class of BFU not only creates a pleasant learning environment for students to explore more knowledge of Chinese culture, but also encourages them to ponder over the differences between Chinese civilization and their own countries’. Thank you for your attention.
